For over two decades I’ve been working where health and wellness meet the outdoors. I train athletes, business people, and adventure seekers in the gym–and create IRL experiences and digital solutions that help people access the healing powers of nature.  

I led my first outdoor fitness retreat to the backcountry near Zion National Park in 2006 with my business Sol Fitness Adventures, a top-rated Utah Outfitter and Guide. Is this an online course?

Yes, 100% of this course is digital, which means that you can access the course written and video content at any time.

If I don’t have a background in fitness will I be able to understand and utilize the information presented in this course?

Yes! Melanie has spent her career making the science of fitness and outdoors accessible to others through her guiding and training practice. The course is simply written, with practical examples, stories, and journal entries to help you integrate the information.

What sort of time commitment does this course require?

The course will take approximately 13 hours to complete, all at your own pace.

Will this course qualify me to lead any type of outdoor adventure?

No. Keep in mind that there are many sports which require their own certifications, i.e. ski and snowboard instructors, American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA), rock climbing, etc.

Will this course teach me how to price my outdoor fitness retreats?

Yes! As a special bonus, I’ll share the pricing model that I use with my outfitter and guide business Sol Fitness Adventures, and that’s used by top luxury travel planners.

How long will I have access to the course materials?

You will enjoy lifetime access to the course materials in your online library. Feel free to study at your own pace. You will have one year after the date of purchase to take and submit your test for grading and CEC purposes.

Do I have to take the Quiz to complete the course?

Only if you wish to submit completion of the course to ACE to redeem CEC’s. If you do wish to redeem the course for CEC’s.

Can I retake the Quiz if I don’t pass it the first time?

Yes! We want you to succeed, so retake the Quiz within 1 year of registering for the course for a mere $10.

I’m a fitness pro. How many continuing education credits (CEC’s) can I earn by taking this course?

You will earn .6 CEC’s from American Council on Exercise (ACE) when you complete and pass the quiz and submit it to ACE.

How do I redeem my CEC’s?

Complete the following steps to redeem your CEC’s:
