Winter Solstice: Embrace the Changing Seasons

The Gifts of Winter

Winter Solstice is a wonderful time to reconnect to our divine nature as we take inspiration from nature. As winter blankets the world in a serene layer of snow, it invites us to embrace the stillness and find solace in moments of rest and reflection. In the quiet of the season, nature itself seems to pause, urging us to do the same.

As the days grow shorter and the air crisper, there’s a gentle encouragement to turn inward, to contemplate the divine within and around us. Winter’s hush provides a unique opportunity to connect with our inner selves, to listen to the whispers of our hearts, and to find peace in the simplicity of the present moment.

Winter Solstice and the Divine Feminine

This week I had an enlivening conversation with my colleague Maggie Winzeler, founder of Every Woman is Worthy, about the Divine Feminine and enhancing our connection to Mother Nature. I couldn’t help but think of the generations of my ancestors who were vegetable farmers, first in their homeland of Switzerland and then southern Utah. They learned to live close to the rhythms of nature and gave thanks for their bountiful harvest each year. While I grew up with a large garden and fruit orchard, surrounded by open fields, I worry that my generation has become too far removed from our roots.

This Winter Solstice, I look forward to turning inward long enough to contemplate the place of the WebbWell App at the intersection of technology with fitness and nature. Queued up in the Relaxation Room channel on the app are “Wintertime Stoke,” a fun guided meditation for snow lovers by Rachel Friedman Elberts, and “You Are the Cosmos,” a wonderful gong sound healing recording by Monique Derfuss.

Gratitude for the Changing Seasons of Life

Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, winter reminds us to slow down, to savor the beauty of each snowflake, and to appreciate the warmth of shared moments with loved ones. It’s a season that encourages us to be still, to let go of the unnecessary noise, and to focus on the quiet miracles that unfold in the midst of stillness.

In these moments of repose, we may discover a profound sense of gratitude and awe for the wonders of existence. Whether you find solace in the soft glow of candlelight, the crunch of snow beneath your feet, or the silence of a winter’s night, let this season be a gentle reminder to take the time to rest, recharge, and contemplate the divine that resides within the stillness of winter’s embrace.

Embrace the longest night, for within its darkness, the spark of winter solstice illuminates the promise of longer days ahead.
